Spring Fling sneak peek: Dragon art

5/23/2025

Picture
You may remember that last year at the Spring Fling, students at the Arts & Crafts station created colourful patterned papers, using paint and other media. Under the guidance of local artist (and Dovercourt parent) Leah Gold, our young artists produced some truly gorgeous designs, covering the full spectrum of the rainbow.

This year at Spring Fling, Leah is building on that work and giving students a chance to turn it into a unique (and uniquely Dovercourt) piece of wall art.

Leah has taken those patterned papers and used them to collage an eight-foot foot long dragon. (You can see some images of this in progress below.)

At this year's Spring Fling, Leah is asking students to help create a backdrop for the dragon, using paint markers to add patterning to the wooden background.

Everyone is invited to add their own marks to the artwork!

Stop by the Arts & Crafts station in the west yard at Spring Fling to leave your mark.

See you at Spring Fling on May 30th!

Here's a short video that shows the dragon in its glory!

Get ready, Dovercourt: The 2025 Spring Fling online silent auction is now open for bids!

This auction is taking place online. You can find it at www.32auctions.com/DovercourtSpringFling25.

The auction will run from Friday, May 23rd to Sunday, June 1st, 2025.

What is this auction about?

Dovercourt SAC is running this auction as a fundraiser to support enrichment activities at the school. Money we raise goes directly to arts, science, sports, and other projects that make student life better. (Those gorgeous new murals on the school's walls? That's just one example of the what SAC fundraising supports.)

We are hoping to raise at least $7,500 to for our school with this auction. 100% of the proceeds of this auction will go to initiatives that benefit our students. Please bid early, generously, and often!

What can I bid on?

We have gathered a truly amazing lineup of prizes worth more than $13,000. Dozens of community members, local businesses, and supportive organizations have contributed 80 items to bid on—and the number is growing every day, so check back often. (If you'd like to contribute, please email us at [email protected].)

Items range in value from $25 to more than $1,500. We have tickets, camp vouchers, experience passes, unique items, gift cards, and some pretty incredible prize packs. There's something for everyone—from small kids to grown-ups.

How can I bid?

You don’t have to be a Dovercourt parent or caregiver to bid! Many of the listings are for electronic vouchers that can be used around our city and beyond. This is a great way for grandparents, friends, neighbours, and extended family members to support our school.

To place a bid, you must:
  • Create a 32auctions account using your email, a username (please use your real one if you can!) and a password.
  • Verify your account via email.
  • Log in to 32auctions.com. (If you don't see our auction there immediately, navigate to your account settings, click "View auctiona", and enter our auction link: 32auctions.com/DovercourtSpringFling25.)
  • Bid on any items you like! Once your bid is submitted, you will get email updates, so you won't miss out on any faves.
  • Keep bidding! Tracking your items is half the fun.

No credit card is required. We'll connect with you once the auction closes to coordinate payment via debit, cash, or cheque.

That's it! Every dollar you spend goes directly to Dovercourt Public School, so this is online shopping you can feel 100% great about.

When does the auction end?

We'll accept bids until Sunday, June 1st at 11:45pm.

I have questions. Who can I ask?

Email us at [email protected], or come by our booth at Spring Fling on May 30th—we'll have more information and a few choice items on display.

Bid early! Bid often! Thank you for supporting our school!
