You may remember that last year at the Spring Fling, students at the Arts & Crafts station created colourful patterned papers, using paint and other media. Under the guidance of local artist (and Dovercourt parent) Leah Gold, our young artists produced some truly gorgeous designs, covering the full spectrum of the rainbow.
This year at Spring Fling, Leah is building on that work and giving students a chance to turn it into a unique (and uniquely Dovercourt) piece of wall art. Leah has taken those patterned papers and used them to collage an eight-foot foot long dragon. (You can see some images of this in progress below.) At this year's Spring Fling, Leah is asking students to help create a backdrop for the dragon, using paint markers to add patterning to the wooden background. Everyone is invited to add their own marks to the artwork! Stop by the Arts & Crafts station in the west yard at Spring Fling to leave your mark. See you at Spring Fling on May 30th!
Here's a short video that shows the dragon in its glory!
