For the entire month of February, our school is participating in the Neighbourhood School Blood Drive. We are asking parents, guardians, family and friends of our Dovercourt students to to donate blood and give a gift of love to someone in need. Join our campaign!
You can book an appointment for any time or location that works for you and simply use our campaign code--DOVE0107737—when you make the booking online or by phone. You can also follow the prompts on our campaign page to make a booking.

Dovercourt Dance-a-Thon: November 25th
Dovercourt's annual Dance-a-Thon is back! Sponsor a student and help our School Advisory Council (SAC) raise funds for enrichment activities, field trips and other things that make our school great! Donate now!

We're collecting costumes your kids are no longer wearing for a great Hallowe'en costume swap.
Before October 20th, drop off Hallowe'en costumes in good condition in the bin at the school entrance (you can bundle it with the winter gear you no longer need!).
Come to the Dovercourt SAC Welcome Back Open House on October 20th at 5pm and you might find that perfect outfit for this Hallowe'en.

Dovercourt PS Reading Challenge
This winter and spring, Dovercourt will be encouraging students to develop and strengthen their love of reading by participating in monthly reading challenges! Each month for February, March, April & May, students will participate in challenges that are designed for their age group.
Mr. Wettlaufer & the SAC events team will keep track of how many students from each class return their forms each month. By the end of May, the classroom with the most completed challenge forms in their division (Grades 1-3, Grades 4-6, and Grades 7&8) will win a $100 Indigo Gift Card to buy new books for their class, courtesy of the SAC, to celebrate their achievement! And to welcome our Kindergarten children to the joy of reading, all JK/SK classes will receive a prize! |

Join us on Wednesday, May 4th, 2022 for an interactive, virtual workshop for the Dovercourt PS community led by antiracism expert, Alexis Dawson!
The workshop will explore:
Alexis Dawson is an antiracism trainer, public education advocate and former Toronto District School Board trustee. She was the 2019 recipient of the City of Toronto's Access, Equity and Human Rights William P. Hubbard Race Relations Award for her work around equity of access to education for underserved students. Alexis is a long-time school council co-chair and sits on several boards and committees dedicated to Black student achievement. Please complete the pre-workshop survey. It will take less than 5 minutes and the results will help Alexis tailor the workshop to the Dovercourt community. It will also be used to help the school and school council develop their strategic school improvement goals. Please complete this survey by May 4, 2022. |

Policy Consultation - Student Attendance, Safe Arrival and Safe Departure
Parents and guardians are invited to provide feedback on the Student Attendance, Safe Arrival and Safe Departure policy through an online survey or by attending a public consultation webinar on April 7, 2022 (either from 1:00 to 2:30 pm, or 7:00 to 8:30 pm), or on April 13, 2022 from 7:00 to 8:30 pm.
The TDSB is looking for feedback in a variety of areas including: experience with the current safe arrival procedure, the use of technology, how best to communicate and dealing with attendance challenges.

Raising Anti-Racist Kids - Learning Opportunity
The Pauline Public School Parent Council has invited parents and teachers of Dovercourt Public School to join an upcoming talk by Rania El Mugammar, a Sudanese artist, anti-oppression consultant and liberation educator based on Toronto.

The Dovercourt SAC presents the legendary Dance-A-Thon Fundraiser on Friday, November 5th, 2021. DJ Adam Silver will host, with classes joining the event outdoors during the school day at designated times.
The Dance-A-Thon will raise money for arts and enrichment, in-class programming and equipment for our Dovercourt school community. In past years we’ve raised over $4000 through this event and want to make 2021 a record year. Help us make this event a success by donating so we can reach our goal of $8000. Every student who gets a donation for the Dance-A-Thon is entered into a draw to win a fun prize for their whole class!
Donations can be made online through TDSB School Cash Online or with cash/cheque (payable to Dovercourt SAC), which can be dropped off with your child’s teacher or at the office.
